Our school aims to promote respect for difference and diversity in accordance with our six Christian values: honesty, forgiveness, service, hope, thankfulness and justice.
At Frampton Cotterell CofE Primary School, we are committed to ensuring equality of education and opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents and carers, irrespective of race, gender, disability, belief, religion or socio-economic background. In order to further support pupils, raise standards and ensure inclusive teaching, we have set the following objectives:
Objective 1: To improve outcomes for SEND pupils throughout the school, ensuring that every pupil makes good progress from their starting point.
Why we have chosen this objective: 19.5% of our pupils are on the SEND register. In most year groups, the attainment and progress of pupils with SEND is below that of pupils without SEND.
To achieve this objective, we plan to: ensure all staff have the knowledge, skills and confidence to effectively support pupils with SEND. This will include providing regular training, liaising with local networks and clusters and monitoring the progress of all learners. We also plan to monitor the attendance of pupils with SEND and consider interventions to increase this.
Intended outcomes: pupils with SEND make good progress from their starting points; staff demonstrate increased confidence and consistency in meeting the needs of pupils with SEND; Attendance and engagement of pupils with SEND improve over time.
Objective 2: To improve the attainment of boys across the school, particularly in reading and writing.
Why we have chosen this objective: the percentage of boys in the school is significantly higher than girls. In most year groups boys are attaining lower than girls in writing and often in reading (internal data July 2025).
To achieve this objective, we plan to: conduct a detailed analysis of attainment data to identify specific areas where boys are underperforming compared to girls, provide targeted professional development for teachers on effective strategies to engage and support boys, enhance the school’s library and reading resources to further engage boys and regular monitor and review the attainment of girls and boys.
Intended outcomes: the attainment gap between boys and girls in reading and writing is reduced; boys demonstrate greater engagement and motivation in reading and writing activities.
Objective 3: To embed the importance of good attendance within the culture of the whole school community to secure equality of opportunity for pupil engagement, attainment and progress across all groups.
Why we have chosen this objective: the attendance of pupil premium children and children with SEND is lower than other groups.
To achieve this objective, we plan to: analyse attendance data to identify the attendance gap, engage with parents/carers, implement targeted interventions to address barriers and monitor and review the impact of any interventions.
Intended outcome: attendance data for pupil premium children and children with SEND is inline with their peers.
Objective 4: to ensure the school actively promotes and prioritises raising awareness, appreciation and celebration of diversity, including gender, sexuality, race and religion.
Why we have chosen this objective: school (and wider society) is a place where all children should feel safe and respected. We want to prepare our children for life in modern Britain. We want children to understand the stereotypes and prejudices that exist and empower them to feel that they can challenge these.
To achieve this objective, we plan to: review our anti-bullying policy, review our SEND policy, review our range of books and texts on offer, engage with organisations and charities to promote awareness of equality and diversity and review the representation of the staff team.
Intended outcomes: the school community demonstrates increased awareness, understanding and appreciation of diversity, as evidenced by inclusive curriculum content; increased student participation in diversity-related events; positive feedback from students and staff; a reduction in incidents related to prejudice or discrimination; the staff team becomes more diverse over time, better reflecting the school and wider community.
